That historic conference brought together global scientists\, diplomats\, and engineers to discuss how outer space could be explored for peaceful purposes. It helped lay the foundation for international cooperation in space — inspiring decades of collaboration that continue to shape exploration today. Tulsa’s role in that pivotal moment established the city as a leader in aerospace innovation and diplomacy\, and Spaceport Tulsa 2026 honors that enduring legacy. \n \n \n \n \n \n Event Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thursday\, April 23\, 2026 – Welcome Reception\nLocation: RiverSpirit Casino & Resort \n7:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Evening Mixer \nKick off the conference with a casual networking reception. It was flown to Great Dunmow\, England arriving 20 Sep\, 1944. It was assigned to the 9th AF\, 410th BG and began combat operations in early 1945. \nThe Douglas A-26 Invader (designated B-26 between 1948 and 1965) is a twin-engine light bomber and ground attack aircraft that was built by Douglas Aircraft Company during World War II which also saw service during several major Cold War conflicts. A limited number of highly modified United States Air Force aircraft served in Southeast Asia until 1969. It was a fast aircraft capable of carrying twice its specified bomb load. A range of guns could be fitted to produce a formidable ground-attack aircraft.

SUMMARY:CANCELED -- THE ARTIST & THE ASTRONAUT
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an unforgettable experience! Join us for an exhilarating screening of The Artist & the Astronaut\, a remarkable film brought to life by Bill Muench\, the visionary behind the film\, and Todd Hobin\, the brilliant composer. \nABOUT THE FILM\nThe Artist & the Astronaut presents a compelling and improbable love story between artist Pat Musick\, a civil rights activist\, and Apollo astronaut Jerry Carr\, as they engage in some of the most significant events in human history. The film features exclusive\, previously unreleased footage of early space pioneers and includes interviews with prominent figures from that era\, such as Gene Kranz\, Al Bean\, Frank Borman\, Ed Gibson\, and Andrew Chaikin. It explores the divergent paths of Pat and Jerry as they navigate tumultuous times\, ultimately uniting to create some of America’s most cherished art. The Artist & the Astronaut stands as a tribute to the transformative power of curiosity\, perseverance\, and empathy. \nThe creation of this documentary mirrors the unexpected nature of its subject. Bill Muench\, a full-time teacher and basketball coach\, was inspired by his wife to undertake the project. Without a detailed plan or budget\, he embarked on this endeavor. Over the course of six years\, he traveled across nine states and two continents\, interviewing numerous Apollo astronauts\, their spouses\, acclaimed authors\, artists\, art historians\, and even NASA mission control directors. Collaborating with music legend Todd Hobin\, Muench brought to life a story that might otherwise have remained untold. \nPanel Q&A \nThe screening will take place in the planetarium\, followed by an engaging Q&A session with Bill\, Todd\, Mitch Rothman\, founder of Manned Space\, and Jerry Carr’s son\, Jeff Carr. \nJeff held several positions during his NASA career\, including Director of Public Affairs\, News Chief at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston\, and Special Assistant to the NASA Administrator\, providing critical transition support and lending insight to key issues and activities for NASA during the early months of the Clinton Administration. He also served as press liaison for the Astronaut Corps and as the “Voice of Mission Control” for more than 40 Space Shuttle missions. Jeff holds three Telly Awards for national achievement in media production. \nDon’t miss out! Secure your spot and be part of this extraordinary event! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Event Canceled
