SUMMARY:Telescope 101 and Sidewalk Astronomy
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: Due to weather concerns for Sidewalk Astronomy\, it has been cancelled. Sorry for any inconvenience! \nTelescope 101 is BACK at TASM\, this time with the Tulsa Astronomy Club’s evening event: Sidewalk Astronomy. Come back to TASM in the evening to apply the skills you learned and use your telescope at TASM’s parking lot after sundown. More details on Sidewalk Astronomy to come! \nGot a brand new telescope\, or maybe an old one gathering dust…that you need some help learning to use? TASM will be hosting a Telescope 101 workshop in partnership with the Astronomy Club of Tulsa from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday\, February 29th\, 2020 in the Planetarium lobby. \nThis free event is open to the public and will have members of the Astronomy Club of Tulsa on hand to assist anyone who may have received a telescope as a gift or have an old one in the closet\, learn how to assemble and operate it properly. \nIf you plan to attend\, RSVP in a time slot below. Please fill out only one (1) RSVP per group or family – 1 telescope = 1 RSVP. You are welcome to bring multiple people in your group. \nBe sure to bring all accessories and manuals that come your with telescope. Due to demand for this event\, we have a limited number reservations available. If there are no RSVP time slots shown below\, please RSVP via the “Waiting List.” \nDuring the workshop\, the Planetarium will be running the full-dome feature show\, “Two Small Pieces of Glass” – an exciting journey into the history of telescopes\, how telescopes work\, and how the largest observatories are using these instruments to explore our universe. This free 25-minute show will run continuously from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Regularly scheduled Planetarium shows will resume at 3:00 p.m. \nThe Astronomy Club of Tulsa was founded in 1937 and is a volunteer-run\, nonprofit club of over 150 members with a domed observatory located south of Tulsa. The club’s mission is to educate and mentor\, bringing the wonders of the universe to anyone wishing to experience them. Learn more and join at http://www.AstroTulsa.com/
